Analyst Day: One workday as a data analyst. Real data, real deadlines, AI colleagues.
Analyst Day drops you into one simulated workday, 09:00 to 18:00, at a company built for your play. Your manager, the CFO, marketing, operations, a data engineer and a key customer message you, assign work, pull you into meetings and push back. You answer with SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI, Word and PowerPoint, and you make business decisions that move the company's numbers. Every dataset is generated for your play with known problems planted in it, so every answer has a ground truth.

Your day
- 09:00 · Morning brief: Your manager sets out the day; the stand-up, syncs, the CFO review and the board are already on your calendar.
- Morning · Diagnose: Something moved in yesterday's numbers. Find out what, and whether the data itself can be trusted.
- Midday · Sprints and curveballs: Timed requests (10 to 25 minutes, no pausing), new asks from stakeholders and surprises the Director adds.
- Afternoon · Decide: Recommend between options with real expected value, write the memo and defend your numbers at the CFO review.
- 17:00 · Board: Present the deck. At 18:00 the day ends and your debrief opens.
The tools
- SQL: Query the company's database to diagnose a metric, pull numbers fast in timed sprints and catch join and duplicate traps.
- Excel: Build the analysis in an in-browser Excel workbook with formulas, graded after a full recalculation.
- Python: Forecast and segment in a Python notebook in your browser, scored against a hidden holdout.
- Power BI: Build an executive dashboard from the day's tables.
- Word: Write the decision memo before the afternoon deadline.
- PowerPoint: Put together the board deck for the 17:00 board meeting.
Levels
- Junior: Clear asks, patient colleagues, longer sprints and cheaper hints.
- Analyst: A normal busy day: ambiguous asks to clarify, planted data issues to catch, stakeholders who push back.
- Senior: Vague asks, conflicting priorities, short sprints, more traps and executives who want a recommendation, not a table.
Each industry you own gives 2 plays at each level, every one with fresh data.
Industries
- Retail / quick-commerce
- B2B SaaS
- Consumer lending
Scoring, debrief and leaderboard
- 60% is deterministic: accuracy against the ground truth (35), the business impact of your decisions on expected value (15) and deadlines (10).
- 40% is judged: communication (15), judgment (15) and professionalism and collaboration (10), with the reasons written down.
- Every finished play keeps a permanent, read-only debrief: the timeline, the planted signals you caught or missed, how an expert would have done each task, and a certificate.
- Leaderboards are per level, across industries, and count the best of your two plays at that level.
Questions
How long does a play take?
The workday runs from 09:00 to 18:00 game time, about three hours in real time. The clock only moves while you are playing: you can pause at any time except during a sprint, and come back within 45 days.
What do I get for one purchase?
Each industry you own gives you two plays at each of the three levels: six plays, each with freshly generated data.
Can I add an industry later?
Yes. You only pay the difference between what you own and the bigger bundle.
Which industries are available?
All three: retail and quick-commerce, B2B SaaS and consumer lending, with the same methods and levels in each.
Is it included for universities?
Yes. Members of an organization whose Bartman bundle includes simulations (Project + Examination + Simulation) can play every industry without buying.
